Cafés & bakeries

Coffee with five options, croissants by the piece, cookies by the kilo and a shelf of packaged bread. One counter, one screen and a queue that keeps moving.

The challenge

A café is three shops behind one counter

You make drinks to order, sell baked goods by weight or piece, and run a small retail shelf. Most POS systems are good at only one of those.

01

Drinks with endless options

Oat milk, extra shot, half sweet, large. Every option needs to reach the barista and be charged correctly, without slowing the queue.

02

Items sold by weight

Cookies by the kilo, cake by the gram. Working out prices on a calculator is slow and easy to get wrong.

03

Packaged retail stock

Bottled drinks, jars and packaged bread need barcodes, stock counts and the same speed as anything else on the counter.

04

Regulars you do not recognise

Your best customers come every day, but without a loyalty programme you have no way to reward them or see what they buy.

How DineBills helps

Everything on your counter, on one screen

Made-to-order drinks, weighed bakery items and scanned retail products all go into the same order and the same reports.

POS weighed item sheet with a live scale reading, per kg price and the calculated item price
01 · Weighed items

Sell by the kilo as easily as by the piece

Mark any item as weighted and set a price per kg or gram. The cashier enters the weight and the POS does the rest. Stock is deducted by the weight actually sold.

  • Price per kg, per 100 g or any unit
  • Weight entered on the till; scale support on the way
  • Weighted items in deals and on receipts
  • Stock deduction by sold weight
Back office item editor with variants, modifiers and barcode fields
02 · Menu

Every drink option, set up once

Build modifier groups for size, milk, shots and syrups with free and paid choices. Add retail items with a barcode and SKU. Change a price in the back office and every till has it in seconds.

  • Size variants with their own prices and recipes
  • Modifier groups with "first N free" rules
  • Barcode and SKU for retail shelf items
  • Kitchen and receipt names kept separate

03 · Tills and shifts

More tills at the morning rush

Open a second or third till when the queue grows. Each has its own cash drawer and shift, and the back office pulls them together into one end-of-day picture.

  • Several drawers per branch, each with its own float
  • Blind close so counts are honest
  • X and Z reports per till and per shift
  • Cash in and out with reasons

Behind the counter

Fresh in the morning, counted at night

Bakeries live on what is baked, what is sold and what is left. DineBills tracks all three.

Batch production

Record the morning bake as a prep recipe so flour, butter and sugar come out of stock.

End-of-day wastage

Log unsold items with a reason so waste shows up in reports, not just in the bin.

Day-old pricing

Discount presets for yesterday’s bread, recorded against the item.

Sold out on every channel

Mark the last croissant sold and it disappears from the till and the online store.

Frequently asked questions

Still curious? Talk to our team.

Can I sell bakery items by weight?

Yes. Any item can be set as weighted with a price per kg, per gram or per 100 g. The cashier enters the weight on the till and the price is calculated for them. Stock is deducted by the weight sold.

Does the POS support barcode scanners?

Yes. Give retail items a barcode in the back office and scan them at the till with a standard USB scanner. They are added to the order like any other item.

Can I run more than one till in a small café?

Yes. Each till is a separate device with its own drawer and shift. All of them share the same menu and send sales to the same reports.

How does loyalty work?

Customers are found by phone number at the till. Loyalty lets you reward regulars with points or stamps, and customer history shows what they buy and how often they visit.

Can I see the food cost of a latte?

Yes. Attach a recipe to each drink size and modifier (beans, milk, cup, syrup). DineBills works out the cost and food-cost percentage and deducts the ingredients from stock with each sale.
